First ‘Here for Caithness' event proves to be a success
The first ‘Here for Caithness' event held in Wick last month has proved to be a success with a number of local services in attendance highlighting how they can support the local community.   A number of these events are planned for the area with the next one taking place on the 29 June, 10:00 - 14:00, at the North Coast Visitors Centre in Thurso.

High Life Highland's School’s Out summer holiday programme is back
High Life Highland's popular Schools Out summer programme, with nearly 1,000 adventures for children, is back for the school holidays.  Children of all ages across the Highlands can enjoy activities from football to swimming, trampolining to mountain biking, outdoor activities and gadgets, books and crafts.  High Life Highland's Director of Sport and Leisure Douglas Wilby said, "We can't wait to welcome children to holiday activities keeping children active, engaged and inspired over the summer months.   "We've created some fantastic opportunities for people to book onto this year and the website is now open for you to have a look at all the activities aimed to help children make new friends, get active and encourage their creativity." The fun starts on 4 July and runs until mid-August.

Review of breast screening programme published.   A major review of Scotland's breast screening programme which makes 17 recommendations to strengthen and improve it has been published The report recommends ways to make the breast screening programme more accessible, resilient and sustainable, to drive improvements and build upon successful delivery of services.

The coastal path from the Mill to John O'Groats Harbour has been much used since it was made in August last year.   Unfortunately time & weather prevented the sowing of wildflower seed in the Autumn, so now is the time! We've got the seed and need lots of volunteers to help sow it.

The performance for tonight at Lyth is sold out but there are still a few tickets left for the Wick performance at Pulteney Centre on Tuesday 17 May 2022 at 7.30pm BCO play a blistering barrage of traditional folk and gypsy-flavoured music from across the Balkans and Russia, Klezmer laments, Romanian Doinas, Hungarian Czadas and their own unique re-imaginings of some of the biggest tunes ever written by the classical greats.   The Budapest Cafe Orchestra was established in 2009 by British composer and violinist, Christian Garrick, and led by him have won legions of fans with their magical and infectious performances.

Wick High School - Appeal For Outdoor Clothing
Wick High School are taking some pupils away to Alladale Outdoor Centre to do some wild camping after the effects of lockdown.   To help keep costs down we are looking for any donations of walking shoes/boots and waterproof trousers/jackets.
