The weather was kinder than anticipated given the rain this year and the ground stood up very well with no muddy condition like the county show.   Heavy athletes came from several countries to compete A good show of dancing kept the afternoon flowing between the pipe bands and, cycle and flat races..

North MSP highlight need for more to be done to tackle bullying
Highlands and Islands (including Moray) MSP, Rhoda Grant, who set up the anti-bullying site Tobie (Tackling Oppressive Behaviour In Employment) is delighted at the number of people accessing her site, but she is equally concerned by the level of bullying in the workplace that is on-going.  Eight months ago, during December 2014, Rhoda Grant launched the site in Inverness and Elgin.

Communities leading on development of Local Area Plans for LEADER Programme
Communities across the Highlands are in the process of developing Action Plans outlining local priorities for the LEADER 2014-2020 Programme expected to launch in late Autumn 2015.   LEADER is an EU Fund aimed at promoting economic and community development within rural areas.

They imagined combining our nation's favourite breakfast dish, renowned for its warmth giving properties, with everyone's summer favourite - ice cream - and came up with porridge ice cream.

The Highland Council's Environmental Health team is raising awareness of the dangers from ticks, in particular the serious illness known as Lyme disease which can be transmitted to humans through a tick bite.   Ticks are very small spider-like creatures which feed on blood.
