Half of all Scottish Councils already resettling refugees
Hundreds of refugees have been arriving on Scottish soil over the past month.  Half of Scotlands local authorities have now received refugees in their areas, and the other half have indicated a willingness to support refugees affected by the current humanitarian crisis.

BIG, Scotland, Opens New £250Million Programme The Big Lottery Fund (BIG), Scotland, has opened a new five-year £250 million funding scheme.  Between now and 2020 community groups across Scotland can apply for grants from £10,000 to £1 million to help finance projects which are community led or will improve lives.

Funding Opportunity - Holiday Grants for Children
The Henry Smiths Charity has announced that schools and youth groups can apply between now and the 18th March 2016 to the Holiday Grant for Children Programme for activities taking place between the 1st February - 30th April 2016.  Schools, youth groups and not for profit organisations can apply for grants towards holidays or outings within the UK for children aged 13 and under who are from deprived areas or have a disability.

More than 100,000 bowel screening tests returned

John Logie Baird, the man who was the first in the world to televise objects in motion has been inducted into the Scottish Engineering Hall of Fame.   Professor Malcolm Baird, the son of John Logie Baird, provided some original material for the Hall of Fame website and said Scotlands contributions to engineering are so great that it came as a surprise to me that the Scottish Engineering Hall of Fame has only been in existence for a few years.  The descendants of John Logie Baird in Scotland and Canada are delighted that he has been included and we hope that the SEHF will inspire bright young people to continue Scotland's great tradition of engineering and innovation.
