RNLI Thurso Coxswain retires after almost half a century of service
Bill ‘Wing' Munro the Coxswain for the RNLI Thurso lifeboat will retire on Thursday 26th October having served at the station for almost 48 years. Wing Munro, 65, has served on the crew of the Thurso lifeboat for 47 years, 9 months and as full-time Coxswain for just under 16 years.

A candlelit vigil in support of the hospital and staff is to be held on Thursday 26th October 2017 at the hospital - bring candles or torches. Starts at 6.30pm and will not last long.

Caithness Heart Support Group handed over the latest equipment it has funded, to the medical practices at Wick GP surgeries. Accepting an ECG machine from group member Janice Macgregor (right front) is Pearson practice nurse Shirley Macleod.

Caithness Health Action Team (CHAT) have now put the 100 Mile Helper Kits together and wil shortly be distrubiting them to Hositals and GP practices. The 100 Mile Helper kits are good to go! First batches going to hospitals today.

THE county's second Health and Wellbeing Market is taking place at the Pulteney Centre in Wick on Saturday, 21st October 2017. There will be 23 stalls offering information on health and wellbeing services that can be accessed in Caithness.

Caithness Soup - Local Crowd Funding (with soup)
Thursday 26th October 2017 7.30pm Mr C's Bar, Thurso What is SOUP? A Crowdfunding initiative for Community Groups or people looking for start up Business or Project costs. The idea is to provide an evening of food (SOUP) and entertainment for an entrance fee, groups will present their project, the audience vote on which they feel is the best and the winner takes home the proceeds of the evening to help them get going on their project.

St Fergus Bowling club in Wick recently donated £300 to the Laurandy Day Care Centre in Wick. St Fergus Bowling Club Chairman Malky Mackay handed over a cheque for £300 to Laurandy Centre chairman Bill Fernie.

Each year they choose a cause to support either abroad or local This year they decide to help CHAT in their efforts to stop continued reduction in local health services by NHS Highland.
